ABOUT NYPUPPETS.ORG NYpuppets.org is a community audience development initiative for New York puppet theater artists. As more and more audience members register at our our website, we will develop a large, highly targeted e-marketing list to promote our work and cross-pollinate our audiences. Its website is hosted as a public service by The Linux Loft, which previously sponsored the Passport to Puppet Theater from 2005 to 2008. It is hosted on their servers. Like the Passport to Puppet Theater, it is organized for the purpose of creating a targeted email marketing list for audiences of Adult Puppet Theater. All Member Organizations will be eligible to post special offers to the Members Only page of NYpuppets.org (see our examples) and send audience development mailings to people who registered on the site. Participating shows must publicize the program by displaying the NYpuppets.org emblem on all their literature and by making pre-show announcements that the show is a member of NYpuppets.org. Please read through these FAQ's.

HOW DO I SEND A FREE E-BLAST TO THE MAILING LIST WE HAVE GATHERED? Jonathan Slaff will design your e-blast and send it using the Linux Loft's servers. You should schedule your e-blast well in advance.
HOW DO I OBTAIN THE EMBLEM FOR MY LITERATURE? The emblems (high-resolution and web-sized) can be downloaded from www.nypuppets.org/logos.htm. The page is password protected, but anybody registered at NYpuppets.org can access it with their user name and password. The emblem will be displayed on Member Organizations' websites, posters, postcards, programs, flyers and e-blasts. The emblem has been designed to be compatible with the funders' logos that are displayed as standard practice. Before you can use the NYpuppets.org website or its mailing lists, you must demonstrate that that the emblem is on your designs.
HOW SHOULD I HANDLE THE PRE-SHOW ANNOUNCEMENT? With the customary "turn off your cellphones" announcement, the House Manager can say, "Special offers for this show are available at NYpuppets.org. Please tell your friends."
IS THERE A PENALTY FOR NON-COMPLIANCE? This is a community project. For it to succeed, all Member Organizations must support it equally. Avoiding the obligations of membership is not nice. If you don’t display the logo or make announcements, your entries may be taken down from the website and use of the mailing list may be denied to you.
WHAT CAN BE POSTED ON NYPUPPETS.ORG? We recommend you post something as a "place saver" at the beginning of your promotional campaign and add other offers as you go along. There is no limit to the number of offers you post, except that there is a practical limit for a run of several weeks. We recommend offers for discount tickets, festival passes, invitations to special previews and openings, meetings with artists and anything else you can dream up. You may not post content that infringes someone else's rights or otherwise violates the law. We will remove any content you post if we believe that it violates any standard of professionalism.

WHAT KIND OF AN E-BLAST CAN I SEND? An e-blast for your show should be imagined in the style of an advertising email done through Smarttix or Theatermania. We can only send to the members of NYpuppets.org. But if your organization was a participant in the Passport to Puppet Theater between 2005 and 2008, then people who signed up through that program can be merged into your mailing. We do not send your e-blast to Smarttix or TheaterMania members as part of this service.
IS THERE ANY COST TO JOIN OR USE THIS SERVICE? This is a community project and all Member Organizations are expected to support it equally by placing the NYpuppets.org emblem on all their literature and by making the pre-show announcement. While we are in our software developmental phase, there is no additional cost for participation.
